Mission Statement
Our purpose is to share God's Love and provide free health care and health education to the indigent people in a selected area of Honduras. Currently, we treat patients from fifteen selected surrounding villages near our clinic in Chapagua.
Overview Of Mission Work
We believe that health education is the keystone in assisting our patients to understand some of their health problems. We are operating a partnership arrangement whereby one-third or more of our clinic workers are Hondurans who come to our clinic to assist in patient care. We utilize the villages' school teachers to instill this knowledge so that the people understand what they can do to improve their health and lives.
Our patient care accommodates acute and chronic health problems. We follow up on the chronic care patients (i.e. diabetics and hypertensive) and provide them with a six-month supply of medicines until our next mission team arrives. Otherwise, the medical teams are addressing the various health issues found in any "sick call" setting.
Critically ill patients are referred to the hospital or to another incoming mission team that has medical specialists who can attend to that patient's specific needs.
Most of our dental procedures have been extractions to eliminate both pain and infections. More recently, we have been able to treat decayed teeth with fillings.
